Hey everybody!
The tree is up and trimmed, all the gifts have been wrapped. And all without smoking.
Today I went to see my PCP and he said that I "had to" come off the Chantix NLT 1 March. He wants me to start cutting back regardless of what I was feeling while trying to come down to only 1 mg a day - he said to cut each pill in half (this took way too much time), take one in the morning and another at mid day instead of the evening. Okay, I'll try. He said he doubted the depression was due to the reduced Chantix dosage but more from it being the holidays.
I also set my PCP up with my old boss today - I ran an outpatient mental health clinic and she was the head Psychiatrist. It's been forever since I played match maker and it was fun, I hope it doesn't backfire ;).
Keep the good thoughts coming my way cause I have a feeling I'm going to need them. I'm almost at 3 months and I don't want to return to my smoking state of being - a friend I had lunch with today said I looked 10 years younger - what kind of surgery had I had done? Hahaha Smoking must have really made me look old.
Any woman worth their weight loves to hear that she looks 10 years younger now that she's quit smoking. OH YEAH BABY!!!!!!!!
Stay with Quits and thank you all for being my friends, I couldn't do this without any one of you.

Hi there Mamaflo -
You're almost at 3 months, a very common time when people working to shed this addiction stumble. You are not alone and this phase WILL pass, but only if you continue to not smoke.
Please take some time to pop in to the support forum at my site and read posts from others who are going through recovery from this addiction. You can read anonymously or register (free) to post messages of your own. We have a large group of Chantix quitters there as well.

Hang in there - Your body and mind are working to heal from this addiction, and as much as I'm sure you'd like to be done with it, recovery takes as long as it takes. Give yourself the space and time you need to find your freedom. It's worth the work - your precious life is worth the work!

Oh my God...the end of your post made me laugh so hard! That is great that someone thought you looked ten years younger and were a possible plastic surgury candidate! I hope to hear the same thing...I would LOVE to hear I looked ten years younger too! What I have heard A LOT is that my skin looks so much better and people have been asking me what my skin regimenation is. When I tell them "Dove" they think I am lying! If anything, being a quitter appeals to my sense of "womanly vanity." Good luck and happy holidays.
Peace,
Diva
MamaFlo, glad you've got your Christmas groove going! When your doctor mentioned cutting pills in half, wouldn't that actually make them 0.5 mg? I'm just curious because mine were 1 mg each, taken 2 per day. Whichever, I'm sure by March you will be in good shape. Bay mentioned going off Chantix about the 5 month mark and sounds really great. I know that she was someone who also smoked quite a bit longer than others, and that really does seem to be a factor.
Younger looking is definitely a good thing, too!
