Seems that lately I've been feeling much better about not smoking, urges aren't as bad and don't last near as long. I've been trying the deep breathing techniques, eating more sensibly, and staying busier - could that be the key?
I have started to again taper off my Chantix - I'm currently taking the 1mg tab mid morning with nothing at night. If it's true that after 12 days of not smoking the Chantix doesn't help (just don't know if I can believe that), then I'm wasting my moolah which could be better spent for a gym membership.
I'm wanting to take a trip to Vegas in May and I want to be able to go and have the same good time I've always had but this time without cigarettes - is that possible? I love the slot machines and I've never been much of a drinker. I'd love to go to Vegas and spend less time in front of a slot machine, more time enjoying good meals and a great room and great pool area.

I LOVE Vegas! Slots and Roulette! Yeah Baby! I also love Bingo! I did go to an Indian Reservation casino and did not smoke right after Thanksgiving! I blogged about it! If my state of mind was ok, I think I could do it. If I was in tugging mode, forget it! Wouldn't it be great if all the Chantix bloggers went and did not smoke? Its a nice thought huh?
Peace,
Diva
I'm extremely skeptical about Chantix not being effective after however many days. After 12 weeks, I did notice a change going off of it that I think was more than just in my head, but whatever you are doing that makes it easier is a very good thing and wonderful to hear!
Plenty of people who quit smoking do fine on trips like that. You've even had to be around smokers since quitting and make it through. I'm not one of those, but then, I also tend to enjoy the free drinks in the casinos and have ended a quitting streak in a casino, so our annual trip to Reno will not be happening this February because I'm just not yet up to it. Then there are people like my friend who told me about Chantix that I've blogged about who was able to go out to smoky bars with friends even the first days of quitting. Everyone is different. Vegas surely is a really fun city, and I agree that there is so very, very much to do outside of the casinos that if you really want to go, you could focus on that if the casino makes it un-fun wanting to smoke.
