Photo of a Die Hard Smoker

I was cleaning out a drawer and came upon this photo - Yikes!! This was me and I would have hurt you once upon a time in order to get a cigarette.

Deb Smoking

And then I found this photo where we were on a cruise in 2000 and I was smoking there too

Mom and Dad on Deck

ICKY, ICKY, ICKY!!!
Seriously, I look back at photos of when I was smoking and I'm embarrassed and horrified.
To my family and friends that never smoked - I'M SORRY! Sorry I made your clothes smell bad, sorry I made you wait for me while I smoked, sorry you ate meals while I smoked, and your home smelled like smoke, and I could have possibly impacted your health negatively - I'M SORRY!!!!

Mamaflo,
I was at work when I read your blog so I couldn't see the pics but I can just imagine! Just think, we used to think we looked sophisticated and cool with a cigarette hanging out of our mouths! Ok, I got over the cool part when I hit a certain age but I really did not realize how INSANE it is to walk around inhaling toxins to feel good until I hit my later 30's. Go figure! Smokers are a CRAZY bunch and I hope to God I never jump back on the crazy train!

I never really thought about how I looked but now I know I looked ridicules strutting around with a smokey stick in my mouth and inhaling that shit - OMG, what was I thinking????
Sure there are times when I think I want one but I know the thought will pass without me giving in - I will never smoke again (unless of course something really traumatic happens in my life and I'm left half out of my mind - yeah, yeah, I'd need to be out of my mind to smoke ever again). Each day that I get further away from smoking the more I know I never want to smoke again (not really), tempted as I might be at times, I've done enough harm to myself already, I'm not going to smoke again.

MamaFlo,
Did you find that when you stopped the Chantix that you had pretty strong cravings, like for days? What did you do to get past your 90day mark? Thanks for your constant inspiration.

I sometimes get irritated that perfectly decent photos of me are kind of ruined because there is a pack of cigarettes in it or one lit and in my hand. From now on, glamorous smoke-free pictures only!

Kim, on the advice from the great women I met here I was on Chantix for 4 months and I weened myself off the Chantix by taking 1.5 a day for a week, then 1 a day for a week (each blue pill cut in half), then half a pill for 2 weeks. I tried cutting back at 90 days and fell on my face, I wanted a cigarette so bad I was a royal bitch. When I weened myself off I did great. I got so much inspiration from my quit friends though that without them I couldn't have done it, period.

Thanks for stopping by..............what's your story, did you quit with Chantix too? Where are you on your quit? You can do this, you can stay quit even without the Chantix.
