In response to Diva - we retired early due to government pensions (2 for my husband). He spent 30 years (combo of active & reserve) in the military, while at the same time holding another government job for 26 of those years. We managed to save a satisfying amount and we're only a few years from paying off the house. In actuality, we have more money now than when we both worked.

You are my hero Mamma! I have talking about retiring since I was 22! Most people think I am nuts! I am willing to bust my butt and work hard now (and I work harder than most people I know) but I refuse to work any longer than I need to. Don't get me wrong, I will always do something. I want the CHOICE to work or not work and I do not want to eat cat food either.
