I've gone over 5,000 cigarettes that I Have NOT smoked since I quit back in September 2007. This is such a HUGE Accomplishment for me, that after 36 years of smoking that I was able to quit with the help of a medication called CHANTIX and with the support of blogging friends I met during the early days of my quit. This is such a Wow thing.
If someone had told me this time last year that I wouldn't be smoking a year later I would have laughed myself silly - I loved smoking, loved it, loved the process of walking outside, sitting back and lighting up. I went through the motions more than 20 times a day for 36 years and all I can say is......"YOU DUMB ASSED BITCH, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?"
My quit is still hard, I still have triggers and some are worse than others and sometimes an entire day is rough but with the help of these same people, I make it, one day at a time.
I'm thrilled as the days and weeks and months pass but what really impresses me is the sheer number of cigarettes that I Have NOT smoked - it floors me, bowls me over, I never realized how much I was smoking..........I can estimate the number of cigarettes I Did Smoke at around 259,000 cigarettes - Yes you're reading that correctly, more than a quarter of a million cigarettes this Dumb Assed Bitch Smoked.
NEVER AGAIN, not even 1 because I know that it will only take 1 to take me back to that pack plus a day habit.

I'm glad you quit smoking and that you see the benefits. Keep on the battle!!!
I agree Mama...smoking sucks and just think, we thought we were Soooooooo cool doing it! Yeah right....we were sold by big tobacco and their advertising techniques! When you get a chance, go check out my cat Yoda. I just posted a couple of pics of her. Its funny, you never see cute little babies or animals with cigarettes hanging out of thier mouths! Go figure, they are way smarter than we were. I am off to go shopping.
Peace,
Diva
Wow, that's a bunch not smoked. Congrats! I used to be amazed when I would dump my ashtrays just how many cigarettes there would be accumulated over a week or a month. I used to look at it and just know that each one was another harm I'd done myself, but I enjoyed it so much that I tried pretending I wasn't seeing what I was seeing. I still can't say never, just how I am, but I've got today covered and will recommit again tomorrow. Either way, lots and lots and lots of cigarettes will not be smoked by us, and that's awesome.
Stopping by to say Congratulations and keep up the good work.
Oh my! when you put it into figures is is quite scary - what we do to our lungs!
Well done, and doesn't it feel great?
YES, not smoking feels Stupendous!
So, I'm reading along, enjoying your post and thinking what a wonderful thing it was that you were able to stop smoking and how much strength that must have taken when I come to the line - "YOU DUMB ASSED BITCH, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" - and all I could do was laugh! That just goes to prove that you are in so much better of a place than you were before when you can ask yourself a question like that.
Congratulations!!
Thankfully I never picked up the smoking habit because I'm sure I'd have a hell of a time quitting. I am so happy for you that you had the strength and the perseverance and the guts to do so! Yay for you!!
Wow Linda, I hope I hadn't either given you the impression that I'm a goodie two shoes OR that I insulted you by using profanity. LOL :):)
Hi. :) I say good for you! I quit smoking 4 1/2 years ago after 35 years of smoking, and have never been happier about anything in my life! You have every right to be very proud of yourself! :)
It's great to hear how many cigarettes you haven't smoked (wow - that's a lot). Keep it up! :-)
First time to your site, but boy I'm impressed with your discipline!!
Congratulations, and keep it up.
One more congrats to add to the others! Wow. That's a unique perspective - the number of cigarettes you smoked versus the ones you haven't smoked - and the amount of money you've saved. Heck, it's a cruise right there!
I think when you really love yourself you can tease yourself, too - that's how I took the "dumb assed bitch" comment! I KNOW you love yourself because you hung in there and did it!

P.s. - not to hijack YOUR post, but check out my monday night post on habits. I think I should just link to your post and then I'd never have to write another word, Deb (lol)
Way to go MamaFlo, it is tough to quit smoking isn't it, but just think of all the money you are saving. 5000 cigarettes, figure at $5 per pack you have already pocketed $1250. Congrats.
Yep, smoking sucks...and I haven't managed to quit, YET! Kudos to you for quitting...I know how very tough it is. *thumbs up*
Yae MamaFlo! Keep it up! We're all super proud of you. We grew up with a smoking father which is probably why neither my brother or I picked up the habit. Thank goodness because I have no will power and wouldn't have been as strong as you. Good for you!
Wow!! Congrats!! You should take yourself on a nice little trip with the money you are saving!
WAY TO GO!!! I support you ALL THE WAY MAMAFLO!!!!!!
whoa that's a lot of ciggy's but hey, you did it and congrats. do you feel better, healthier?
Yes I feel alot better and although I think I feel healthier, I'm sure I've done a whole lot of damage to myself with smoking for that long. My doctor is very happy and encouraged by my quit though so I'm headed in the right direction. Before I quit, I was coughing literally every few minutes (no exaggeration) and now I cough maybe twice a day and that's nothing.
Y'all just don't realize how much your encouragement helps.
Thank You!!
Fantastic !!!!
I've been of the cigs for almost six months. I tried on numerous occasions before this but only lasted a few days.
Thank heaven for Nicotine Replacement Therapy.
I agree with not having even just one. It would do me in. I'm almost at the 6 month mark!
