Thursday Thirteen - Trips I've Taken

When I started up my computer and went to read my first blog, I realized that today was Thursday and I hadn't made up my TT (thanks for the reminder Maggie) so I through some photos together.

San Diego, California

Nevada Desert outside Las Vegas

Wheel of Fortune at Paris, Las Vegas

Colorado River at Hoover Dam

Lake Tahoe in September.

Grand Cayman - our children were parasailing and the scared parents (us) were on the beach taking pictures instead.

Beach in Curacao
Ruins in Central America.

This was in Puerto Rico at the Barcardi (that's a Rum & Coke in one hand and a cigarette in the other hand) Factory on a cruise of the Eastern Caribbean.

This was an Iguana we spotted on a cruise down the river in Belize - we saw so much wildlife on this cruise.

This was a Caribbean Cruise with Dominica in the background as we departed.

This was our cruise to the Mexican Rivieria in 2007 where we visited Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta

This was our cruise to Hawaii in 2007 roundtrip from San Diego, 14 nights.

Can I just say how insanely jealous I am of you now?

Hey there Mama...I miss hearing from you...you never post anyting to my blog anymore! In answer to your question, I am allergic to dust and blooming plants....I get bad nosebleeds and sinus headaches when everything is starting to bloom. I am also allergic to many soaps that have a lot of dye and purfumes in them. How did you like Belize? I have family that lives there and I am going to back there hopefully at Christmas time 2008. Maybe I should do a Thursday Thirteen with travel too. I was like you cigarette in hand at every stop! Trying to hike up the Myan ruins in extreme humidity was not fun! I want to hear more about your travel adventures.
Peace,
Diva

Dawn, your time will come. It was always important to us to take our children places and expose them to everything we could while their spirits were still developing. Now that we're retired, we have lots of time to travel and I'd be gone once a quarter on a cruise if I could.

Diva, yes we loved Belize, we love most everywhere we've traveled. We all love meeting the locals - they are so kind and generous and love showing off their beautiful countries. We love cruising, the very thought of waking up in a different place each day excites the hell out of us. I'm not one for staying any one place for long, give me a taste of everywhere so I know someday (when I'm too tired to travel anymore) where I'd like to finish living out this lifetime. We'd love to do Europe on some back to back cruises but that will have to wait until my husband gets well from his cancer and the chemo (someday soon we hope). Europe is port intensive and so it would require his health be exemplary.
For now, we'll cruise the Caribbean, and Mexican Riviera and Hawaii, maybe the Panama Canal or Alaska where we have a good amount of time at sea where we can just kick back, relax and enjoy the ocean.
We also love the desert both the high and low desert as each gives a completely different perspective. This is one of the reasons we love the desert in Nevada as we can get a taste of both the high and low.

Love the blog layout, its very nice indeed.

I am very jealous of the trips that you have taken, if you and hubby make it to England I will tell you some great spots to visit.

I have hopped around europe a wee bit but not much and in September I am heading over to your side of the pond, watch out! :)

I think I may have taken the exact same Mexican Riviera cruise (Carnival, 7 days - back in the days when my life was drastically different). It was so much fun, and I can't wait to do it again. The other places sound fabulous, too. I love being on vacation. Love. It. L-O-V-E I-T. Thankfully, Tom loves travel, too, so if we ever get our shit together, I have a list of well over 13 place I'm positively *dying* to visit.

MAGGIE, our cruise was on Holland America but probably near the same itinerary (I think Carnival's Spirit does that itinerary too).
Last year we were lucky enough to cruise 31 days, this year I'll have to settle for 10, but next year........Need to find something for the spring, either a full Panama Canal transit or maybe Hawaii again.

Where are your dream vacation spots?

CLAIRE - I'll take you up on that, would love for you to help me with information about Europe. Hubby has been there many times, I haven't and I'm just dying to see it all.

Oh my! How fortunate you are. I haven't had a holiday in years, and when I did they were only caravan holidays.

If you ever come to England, look me up in Yorkshire :O)

Babs - you can bet I will. I look forward to meeting you someday soon and visiting your beautiful country.
