The main computer I use is an iMac (desktop) and I use it in our bedroom which is actually pretty dark but there is a window right next to where I sit and I'd have a pretty nice view if I'd open the blinds. I think I'll do that now actually.
Because we're retired, I'm able to spend a great deal of time on my computer. Normally I get up in the morning get a cup of coffee, chat with my husband (who has been up most of the time for at least an hour already) and head back into our bedroom to sit down at the computer. I spend way too much time on the computer most days according to my husband.
I have iTunes playing in the background and I love this life of mine!
When we go on trips (it's hard to call it a vacation when you're retired), I take along my MacBook (laptop) and do what I can from where I am. Of course since our favorite trip is a cruise, I'm not on the internet very much, maybe once or twice a day for 10-15 minutes (time is expensive and slow on a ship). I'm going to try to post photos and a narrative at least every other day this fall when we're doing a full transit of the Panama Canal.
***EDIT***
Come on EC, give me something I can rely on for fast efficient service/performance!!!

Fun, MamaFlo, fun question.
I still have my desktop which used to be my only option after the old laptop died a few years ago. Then, with my new laptop that I bought back in April (I still hyperventilate thinking about spending so much money in one place...), I started spending a lot of time on the reclining sofa. In both cases, I do have a window, and the room is usually bright.
I both start and end my day on the computer, which is kind of sad, but it's how I am :)
I think it's awesome that you can get online even on a cruise ship. When I went a million years ago, that wasn't an option yet. Can't wait to see pics when you go!
Normally I'm sitting on the couch with my laptop on my lap! The other computer is in the dining room and surrounded by Amanda's stuff - lots and lots of stuff that either she cleans up soon or I toss in the garbage!
I actually have 2 i use daily. My laptop I got for Valentine's Day. I just love it! My desktop is my trusty friend, she has had a few power supply problems, twice she started smoking! She holds my life but I can not run her without having the side panel off and a external fan cooling it off. I hope to one day get a Mac though. My favorite spot is on the couch first thing after I get the kids off to school.I end everyday on my computer. I like working on it in darkness.
1stopmom - I sure hope you are backing up that trusty desktop cause it sounds like it could die any ole day.
I'm kinda surprised that so many of us have laptops.
I work online in the office that I share with 2 geeks (the companies programmers) Our office has a whole wall of windows and a skylight which is great to look out but gets really hot in the summer. Our windows look out over roof tops...its kinda cool.
I use a desk top computer with all the bells and whistles (since its supplied by the company and we do all our work online!) and I have a laptop for home which I use some times at night when I need some blogging company.
p.s...Mamaflo when are you coming to Australia? Not sure you can take a cruise as that might take a very long time to get here!
(loved my word verification...iizbums) :)
I have on pc at work - that just died yesterday! Went to the pc doctor today! :(
Fortunately, I was able to run upstairs and grab my laptop.
Both are PCs with Windows (just saying NO to Vista).
When I'm on the wi-fi laptop in the apartment, I'm at my dining room table.
Good question!
I agree -- EC is infuriatingly slow. It's my only complaint about them.
I blog on my desktop in my "office" at home and use our laptop when we travel. My husband uses the laptop in his "office." We have a Dell computer. My husband says I spend too much time on the computer, too but he likes me to tell him what other people write about.
Where do you use your computer? In my scrapbook room
Do you have more than one? Just one.
Do you use a laptop or a desktop? I have a desktop
Mac or Windows PC? Windows
Can you look out a window? No, my room is to packed with craft supplies and my big desk with a huge back is in front of it.
Is the room dark or bright? in the middle really not to dark, not to bright, just right I suppose.
Do you start your day on the computer or end your day on the computer? I get up feed the dogs start the coffee and go to the computer, oh yeah I pee also..
End of day always right before I go to bed. Then I pee again..
I use my laptop and almost always am sitting on the couch in the living room with it. We have 3 computers, a desktop and 2 laptops. One laptop isn't working right now...big loooong issue with (Not so)Best Buy, but hopefully will be finally working again soon(it's only been 1 1/2 yrs grrr).
I'm actually on the computer most of the day, some days steady, other days up and down throughout the day. My husband knows I'm always on it, but he doesn't care, he knows it's just me and the kids all day and if I didn't have my internet to bury myself in I would go nuts LOL. It gets turned on usually before 6am and stays on until I go to bed.
I have a PC and yes...definitely look out the window to the right. It's in an armoire and I have a little writing desk next to it for paperwork, etc. I seem to stay in the "computer room" as it's been labeled. There is also a TV and an old very dusty treadmill and a bookcase of "getting to" books. :)
Hi Deb (yet again! Commenting a lot today) -
We are a computed family. There's a desktop in our kitchen area. I have a new laptop (a fast Toshiba) which I tend to use either at the DR table or on my lap while watching TV; The 'Publican has TWO laptops - one from his office, and a personal one and he's a lap guy mostly (although he uses his work computer in our 'studio'), and then the step-spawn have a desktop in their room, too.
So that's 5 computers, 4 people. You can do the math. Oh, and my old laptop is sitting around, waiting for me to wipe it clean and hand it off to the Spawn.

Oh and one more - I almost forgot the computer I am currently typing on. My desktop in my second office. I don't write from this computer, but I do stuff like comments and card dropping from here. I think they're generally paying me to work (shhhhh.... don't tell).
Once again, ~Laura
I have a desktop at home in our computer/music room and at the office. I start my morning checking email, on and off at work if there's nothing to do, and on again in the evenings. I enjoy it very much, especially now that I'm blogging. Don't have time to play on pogo lately--too busy dropping entrecards!
