This Post Is All About Winston

It appears that the food poisoning episode is over and I'm back to about 90% which is a fabulous recovery considering I would have put yesterday at MINUS 50%. I'd say I normally run at almost 150% give or take 10% on any given day.

What this post is about is Winston. Winston is my 15lb poodle and it would cut this guy short to say he was a pet - Yeee Gads he's so much more than a pet, even more than most human beings I know. Anyway, this little man would not for any reason whatsoever leave my side in the bed or at the toilet yesterday or last night. My husband had to come into our room and physically pick him up to force him to go outside and by around 8pm last night I got up to get a bite of toast and to make him eat because he wouldn't leave my side.
What is that, dedication, love, dedication, devotion?
This love puppy, my friend would have died of starvation in order to stay by my side..........I'm embarrassed to admit that I probably would not do the same.

You would have thought I'd have learned something with the last dog we had who died not long after my husband was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma - this perfectly healthy dog of about 9 years suddenly became deathly ill and by the time we got him to the Vet he told us to have him put down, that he had developed more than 33 kidney stones and although they could remove them through surgery that they would without a doubt continue to reoccur.
We later realized that Merlyn internalized my husband's kidney cancer into his own demise trying to alleviate my husband's disease.

Oh, how sweet. Pets are just so loyal and faithful aren't they. It seems they just can sense when we are under the weather and do what they can to cheer us up. My cats are the same way.

Mommyandmebooutique - yes my husband is in remission and doing well although he is on Nexavar (pill form of chemotherapy) for 2 years now and will stay on it as long as possible. Thank you.

Aw, super sweet, Deb, both Winston and your other sweet dog. I get it. Glad you are feeling better.

My boy, Rudy, is the same way. He's very sensitive to my feelings and moods. Buddy, on the other hand, is just a dog. He could care less. Don't get me wrong, he's a sweet little boy, but he's just about his business and nothing seems to phase him.

You just can't beat that kind of love! Your poodle certainly puts the WIN in Winston doesn't he?

Winston sounds like a really sweet boy. Extra dog bones for him!

As a kid, our dog would always watch over me when I was sick. The dogs I have now might worry about me, but mostly they'd be thrilled to have napping partners.

I am so sorry to hear about your husband. I'm happy to hear that he is in remission. I have a shih tzu that doesn't know she is a dog and suffers from seperation anxiety. I swear she tries to sleep on my head most night. She is my shadow, and has caused me to fall more than once from being under foot. She is like one of my children tho and I love her to death. Your Winston reminds me of her.

Whata touching post, and Winston is adorable, by the way! I don't think my life would be complee without a pet. You are lucky to have such a devoted companion.

For some people pets are just that, pets. Then there are those of us that don't see them as "just pets", they truly become members of our family. We accept their little eccentricities, we love them like they are our children, and they give us unconditional love in return.

Winston is a lucky boy to have you!

I'm glad you're better, too. I'm hoping to feel better soon.

*Hugs*

That is why I love dogs so much, they are human in so many ways. Especially poodles I have owned 2 and they are my favorite dog. They are so smart.

How you feel better soon!

So glad to hear that you're feeling better. I had food poisoning once a long time ago and still remember how horrible it was.

Winston is really a cutie and he's obviously very devoted to you. You can't find that kind of unconditional love very often, can you?

oh mama! How I love a good dog! My Lefty knew I sick before I was. I had a virus with fever, I guess it looked like I quit breathing I was in such a deep sleep. He had not left my side for hours, but jumped on me to wake me up. I told him I was okay and he wagged his tail!

Love little Winston for me!
