I went and did a dreaded deed today, I went shopping for new Bras, yeah the things I wear as infrequently as possible. With our cruise coming up here in about a month I needed a nice bra that would enhance all the lovely clothes I have, especially the clothes I wear to dinner and dancing at night.
Because I hardly ever wear a bra they are horribly uncomfortable to me and it's an oxy moron that the same discomfort is the reason I don't wear them.
I'll admit that I sure look a great deal better with one on, it definitely lifts and separates. OMG I sound like a commercial.
Bra was purchased from Soma a company owned by Chicos, which is one of my favorite stores. I decided to purchase just one and wear it, enough to see if I want to get another.

Bra Shopping

Holy crap! How could you not wear a bra? Only time I don't is when I'm sleeping. I can't even wear those tops that supposedly have a built in bra without a bra. Yeah, ok I'm a bit bigger in that area, but even when I was thin and smaller there I had to wear one.
I have to wear a bra.. but I can't do underwires... it is so hard to find bras in the triple D dept.. I couldn't go lucy goosey. Glad you can. If I did that I would look like two fried droopy eggs on a wall.. LOL. You totally crack me up!!!!!
Have you been fitted by a professional? I know it sounds sorta dumb, one would think any woman should be able to fit herself ... but it really does make a difference. I found out I needed a much bigger cup size than I thought (DD), and wearing a bra is much more comfortable now.
I haaaaaaaaaate bra shopping. Ugh. It's so awkward and annoying.
Sadly, my mother knows this, so whenever I go to visit her she somehow manages to sneak in time for us to end up at a store for me to get measured and sized properly.
I'm with you - unless I am going to be leaving the house - no bra for me either. Now that I am older I can appreciate their small size! Thanks for the smile!
I used to be able to dive in and out of bra shops and know which ones would be comfortable. Recently Europe, including Britain changed their bra sizes and cup sizes became larger and also the size around the chest increased. This was then torture - what do you do stay with the same size and have floppy cups and slightly loose bra or go one size down and cup size down. Well that at a glance seems like the perfect option - but no ... the circumferance around the chest on the next size down is like a cheese wire and the breast is squashed as two peas ready to pop the pod.
However, good news - Triumph have just released a bra called Corsina Beauty - this is a light weight bra (not underwired) but it fits and once on although lifting it feels as though you are naked ... lovely feeling and the main thing besides being comfortable is IT FITS!!!!!!!
I prefer not too wear one around the house, but these days I'd need a whip and a chair to get these two under control!
The older I get the bigger these puppies get and I don't like it one little bit. Thank goodness my husband is not a boob man and prefers my sick sense of humor instead.
Oh i hate bra shopping. When I still try to where the same size I wore in High School. lol. I wish.

Bras are EVIL! Almost as evil as pantyhose!
i just don't need a bra, not unless it comes with breasts too. sometimes i get some padding and if i wear a snug shirt, i don't look too bad. otherwise, i can look down and see the floor with no problem. just flat.
Deb...I always drank my coffee black but realized about 6 years ago that it was contributing to my panic/anxiety (by doing a series of deduction) so I quit drinking it and my attacks got better. Not gone, just better. I didn't start with the Splenda (I'm diabetic and it's the only sweetener that DOESN'T have side effects for me) and the yummy vanilla creamer after having a cup at a friends house as a special treat. I've been stuck on it since...but only occasionally. Think if I add some Bailey's to it, that might help? *smile* (Hubby says it, at least, might make me not care. lol)
Every time I find a bra I like, they stop selling it right about the time I realize I should buy about 15 more of them. Ugh.
I think bra shopping is just above going to the gynecologist on my list of things I enjoy doing. I don't despise wearing them, but I will not do underwires; and it's like trying to find a needle in a haystack sometimes -- stores are just full of underwires!

THE SUCCESS
I have a bra shopping tale for you. When I was in college, I went into a little out of the way lingerie shop in NYC. It was the dead of winter and I had on a big winter coat. As I walked in the door, a little old man at the back of the shop, looked up at me and said, "You are wearing a 36B. You are really a 32C." I was flabbergasted as I WAS wearing a 36B, but I didn't know how he could tell that through my coat, and at that distance. Well, I tried on the 32C, as he suggested, and was much more comfortable. Ever since then, I am all for getting correctly fitted, because if a bra doesn't fit well, you are miserable!
I so understand this. I've worn a sports bra for several years now. Very comfy. Have fun on your cruise. Have a great day. :)
I start having nightmares about bra shopping as soon as the ones I own start getting worn. I hate it so much that I usually just grab what I think will be okay and then get the hell out of there without even trying them on.
LOL you crack me up. I love your blog and I am not sure if you do these but I left you a present on my blog below the circus post. I wanted you to know that I love your blog and am much more than a card dropper :-) I am a reader too.
Oooh, bra shopping is terrible. Such uncomfortable things and almost as bad as getting new shoes for me. I am much happier with sports bras because the straps don't keep falling down for me, but the problem with them is I can't really wear tops with big necks or the straps show. Always some dumb thing. Slipping straps on bras is very annoying to me, especially when I run for the bus!
I could not go without my bra, but I also hate buying them. It's so difficult to get a good fit and most of the pretty ones are underwired and I can't wear those.
