STOP WITH THE MUSIC!!!!!!

Lately there have been way too many drops by sites with music - STOP THE MUSIC!!! I will not reciprocate your drops if you have music on your site, it annoys the living hell out of me - can you tell that I'm screaming?!!!
This morning as I was opening sites (I open 10 at a time) there were 4 sites in one 10 blog block playing music at the same time, all different, all horrible.

I've also run across sites that have something that's keeping their site from loading quick enough for me and who's Entrecard is way down their site or is so mixed in with other advertisements that I can't locate it quick enough.

In all these cases I will just shut off your site, I will not drop. I know I'm not the only EC dropper that feels this way so if you want to have a following, STOP THE MUSIC!!!

I hear you. When the music pops up I try to locate the source and then I leave an angry comment. I've noticed that one or two sites have eliminated the music.

I HATE music on sites.

And since I open so many pages at once, it can really get bad. And then it takes forever to find the one or two pages with the annoying crap blasting.

absolutely agree.

and it is so easy to incorporate music into posts without it playing automatically.

then visitors can turn it on when ready to listen.

I couldn;t agree with you more. I was actually about to post about this after I finsih my droppingfor the day. The music annoys the bejesus out of me, especially if it s not something I care to listen to. On top of that, why would someone nothave the entrecard easy to find? UGH!!! What do these people think when they do stuff like that?

I hear people complain about music on sites, but it never bothers me because I never turn on the sound.

lol .... the music on one or two occasions has had me nearly jumping out of my skin. There I am well into a comment about something - it's all in my head half in and half out and then ... half way down the page as I am merrily typing my comment. A loud blast of music attacks my ears and the words that I meant to put down in the comment have been erased out of my mind whilst I am busily searching to find which blog it is that is making the noise. So, mind the pun "no comment."

Another point that you haven't yet mentioned are sites with excessive bright flashing ... thank goodness I don't suffer with epilepsy - at least films warn people before the flashing lights begin! There are many blogs almost representing alien dashboards - will we all take off and fly to another galaxy?

Polly, you are so right about that blinking, drives me bananas.
I sure hope that people read this and stop.

I listen to my music when I'm dropping and reading and commenting, I don't want to hear five different things playing of which at least 3 are what I'd term Bad Music anyway.

Wow, I could bitch and moan about this topic forever!

I completely agree. I keep my sound down, but I can always tell which ones have it because it slows down the loading. And it messes up other blogs I try to click to since it's still downloading!

I hear you, i know your shouting and absolutely agree.

I think there are bloggers who think that site is for bling-bling stuff, and i second the motion to what polly said about blinking aswell it's too much in the eye. There are bloggers who are not sure what to put on the sidebar and they stuff their sidebar with anything absolutely not relevant with blogging.

This is to the one's who put music on, if you are reading this: even your site is personal diary or music, please don't... you can put music but not auto play, it's annoying -- consideration to other is what we need. if you don't stop it then you won't get anything, no comment, no drop, no visit because we will make sure we remember your site to not to drop or pay a visit anymore.

I put a piece of jazz music every 5th of the month on my blog. But it won't disturb you. Because the video only plays if you click on it.

I dropped all blogs with music from my list already. It not only annoys me but the script from these blogs make loading real slow as well.

I gave your blog's link to a friend of mine whose blog has been playing music endlessly. I've warned her before to shut it off because it's kind of annoying.

I couldn't agree with you more on the widget's location. It's hard to drop cards on numerous blogs with widget's located at the bottom of the page and the loading time kills me as well, arggh!!!

I hope they could "hear your music" now with this post, LOL!

not only is it annoying!!!! but it keeps freezing my computer!!!! I'm so glad you brought this up, because I thought I was the only one who hated it... and I love music, but the one I choose on my stereo!!!!

It seems that there is a groundswell of opinion against blogs which automatically play music, and I have to say that I am in full agreement.

I too have chosen not to drop on these sites, just like I don't drop on blogs which have full page ads that open. I simply close the tab.

Yours is not the first blog to have written a post about this. Maybe if a few more bloggers speak out on this subject then the message will be heard loud and clear.

I completely agree with you. Hearing that music bugs the heck out of me especially when there are 10 pages open and I don't know who the culprit is. The most annoying is when they don't put a way to shut off the frickin' noise without shutting off our speakers. If you want music on your site - DON'T PLAY IT AUTOMATICALLY. I actually had one webmaster spout back at me after an angry email where I suggested this very thing, "If you are a webmaster and are so technically saavy why didn't you just turn off your speakers?" What a *itch! Pissed off I responded that as a work at home mother I rely on my speakers to tell me when I have an incoming email or text message from a client. Not to mention with a sleeping baby in the house I can't have my speakers spouting off crappy music whenever they pleased. Which was totally besides the point. Needless to say they missed out on a years worth of dues - or I should say EVER receiving money from me - as I was considering joining the organization that ran the crappy website.

Yeah I have to agree I cant stand the blogs that have MIDIS and crappy music on their blog I am like you Mama Flo I want to listen to my OWN MUSIC and all that while I am doing my drops and all that.

Btw.. I hope your not talking about my page loading slow... I dont know whats up with blogger lately and why its kinda slow. I have done everything by resetting my theme and everything and it sometimes hangs :( I hope you'll still drop by!

I was just having this same conversation on twitter! LOL! I hate sites that have auto play music or videos. I usually have my speakers on mute though, so I don't always know who's got what on... but when my speakers aren't on mute, I leave the offending site ASAP!

Oh ... I see hear you! I've gotten to the point where I keep my speakers off -- but then one of my children turns it on and I don't know -- yikes ... I nearly fall out of my seat sometimes. Honestly though, I don't think the 'music' bloggers realize how annoying it is. Thanks for letting them know. Lorie

I totally agree! I HATE music on websites. I also open a ton of pages at once, and it's hard to figure out which one it is. It's really irksome. Let's start a campaign to oust the music players!

I am so glad I'm not the only one that feels this way!!! I absolutely hate the music! I'm also one that just shuts off the site... I usually keep my computer on at a decent volume in case someone tries to IM me.. and when I am dropping my cards.. I get blasted.. It's baaaaad

Karen & Gerard Zemek said...

I hate the music too so I just turn my speakers off and that way the ones that have music don't bother me. After all, it is their site so if they want music I guess they can have it, but this way I don't hear it.

Judy said...

YIKES, Mama...I heard you screaming...scared me! I am new to blogging and have not come across any of those blaring, flashing ones and from what I'm reading, I hope I NEVER do! Thanks for dropping by my site and I hope we "see" each other often!
