Acapulco Yesterday

We were in Acapulco yesterday and I was very disappointed, Acapulco has definitely seen better days..............a long, long time ago (in the heyday of John Wayne, Doris Day, Frank Sinatra, etc). This city of 1.5 million people is in decay, with severe poverty everywhere. Petro is the equiv of $5 a gallon and daily wages for most people are $4 per day - yes that's right.
The photo above is of the Cliff Divers which was actually pretty neat.

Today we're in Huatulco and I will post this later tonight or tomorrow as I have problems with this internet connection and it doesn't want to upload more than 1 photo at a time. What I will tell you is WOW about Huatulco - Loved it here!!!

I have heard that Acapulco is not swinging anymore. There was a time when it was really something. A Swiss jazz musician was afraid to go to WW II (but Switzerland did not get involved anyway) and left for Acapulco in 1939. He had a famous big band playing in parties and hotels.
