The weather is finally cooling down, leaves are turning and falling from trees, I see jeans and sweats more often and now with day light savings over, everyone has finished their personal running/walking, and dog walking before it's dark (well before 6pm). My thoughts are turning to the holidays, what I'm going to cook, what needs to be purchased, what needs to be cleaned before visitors arrive.
Cooking always feels so much more comforting when the temperature drops, I also cook differently, the stick to your bones kinda food.
Even my bedding changes with many more blankets and down comforters (but I still need those crisp cold sheets which I found by the way at Thomas Lee). We haven't turned on the main heaters yet but the portable heaters we've started in the master bathroom. Tonight I believe we are going to stoke the fireplace for the first time this season, my daughter and her boyfriend are coming for dinner, the Cowboys play tonight and it will be another chilly night - perfect evening for the fireplace.
What makes it feel like a change in seasons for you?

The clothing I'm wearing. If I'm still in shorts, polo shirts and thongs it must be summer. I'm in sweats and wearing socks and shoes. I'm not very happy about that either. Have a great day. :)
I'm FREEZING and it's only 40 degrees....I'm not ready winter! The heat being on all day means that winter is here. :(

I came back from hot Africa three weeks ago. The wrong time to get used to cold weather. That is why I will go back to hot Africa in 10 days. I postpone my retirement to spring.
oh my we are only about 100 miles north of you and I have been using the heater for a couple of weeks now.
But you know the type weather. The heater early morning and just before bed to take the chill out. Then turn it off because to sleep in a cool house.
Then of course in the heat of mid day the AC goes on.
Simply typical weather for this part of the country.
Oh my hubby and daughter will be glued to the tube tonight if it's the Cowboys!!
Have a great day!!:-)))
P.S. glad you're back up and ruinning!!
A cold, rainy day warmed up with a bowl of warm nourishing soup.
I now have about FOUR inches of snow in my yard! (NE Ohio)
The smell outside of other using their fireplaces or woodburning stoves, scraping the frost off the windshield in the morning, and dinner in the crockpot! :-D
Once the leaves have all fallen from the trees, it starts to feel like winter to me. With that brings the Christmas season, my favorite time of year! I can't wait to put my tree up. We'll see if I can make it until after Thanksgiving *this* year. It hasn't happened yet.
