Spring Widget Issues

I've noticed that I'm having a problem with the speed of sites with Spring Widgets on them, in particular the Christmas Countdown Widget. It's slow and keeps the other sites from loading smoothly.
Is anyone else having this issue?

I'm not talking about this being an issue on my blog but rather other people's blogs. I know this isn't my computer as I use a workhorse load of RAM.

I haven't noticed. Some folks have so much in their side bar that it takes forever to load.

Your site loads nicely for me. I hope mine does for you.

Have a great day. :)

Not wishing to stir the pot ... but there are also a lot with Christmas music and when several are playing at once well - let us just say it's a little noisy!!

I've also noticed that many sites are now much slower loading than usual - This is bad enough but when the Entrecard square comes on and waits for the whole page to load before the drop sign manifests itself - well even for the most composed ... it's frustrating!

Your site load OK. I have taken off a lot of widgets recently from my blog, as it became heavier and heavier to load.

yes the music has been a big problem for me. but, I can't complain too much because I am a slow load too.

Maybe I will get rid of my Christmas countdown.

I haven't noticed but I agree it's irritating having to wait for some sites to download.

I have the Christmas tree widget on my site. I know it takes a split second longer for it to load, but I haven't had any problems with it. I have visited one site that has an auto video playing with Santa and it's driving me nuts. The site never completely loads. It's frustrating because it's one of my regular drop sites for EC.

I used to have the Spring widget on my blog too and it did slow down my site so I took it down permanently. I think it takes up a lot of memory hence slowing down the loading time.

I took my Spring widget Christmas countdown one off and changed it for another. I was either getting all ads or nothing but a little red square with an x in it.

Oh wow first I got my satellite issues worked out. Ha! they reset me, gave me one month free, and also refunded us for last month.

Of course this all took place after I had my hubby call to cancel with them and let them know that I would simply remove their equipment and have another Hughes installed.

Now with that said I do have problems with any and all spring widgets. the only one I have right now on my site is a translator. and I think I am going to change that to another type translator.

Also I removed my Pyzam Christmas countdown. It was loading extremely slow and also kept reminding me that I haven't shopped yet!

Happy weekend:-)

When I saw your topic for some reason I thought of spring cleaning, which lead to thinking about "spring clean the widgets from the sidebar." It's late, I'm tired and my brain provided its own interpretation!

Hi, thanks for your comment on my last post. Parents for me are simply guides. We can be strict but not too imposing. The key is to teach our children about what is right and wrong and what is acceptable and unacceptable in the society we live in. I've always adhered to the golden rule, "Do not do unto others..." Thank God we both have wonderful children.

I haven't had any problems. Maybe I'm visiting the wrong blogs.

I hate that widget. Every blog that uses it is very, very slow. I blame it on horrible programming.

For what it's worth, and for those that wonder, the reason they are slow sometimes is because components like that need to reach out to their server for the content. Every time you refresh a page with one of those components on there, your browser needs to reach out to their servers.

With the number of widgets that could be out there, on all the pages, posts and web sites...it could be causing their servers to be sluggish, and hence, make the page load slow.

Anyway...just in case someone wonders... :)
