I have spent the better part of yesterday afternoon and long into the night replacing the hard drive on my MacBook. I had been using the small hard drive that came with my MacBook and simply removing things as the itsy bitsy drive filled up (60gb). I replaced it with a 320gb drive and I've been installing everything I want back on it - yes I could have copied from the old drive as I have an enclosure but I wanted a fresh install.
Not only is this new hard drive larger it's also much faster and I'm thrilled.
I use my MacBook when we travel to stay in touch with family and friends and download photos from our camera.
This was one of the easiest things I've done to update my computer but it sure is time intensive.

Good for you. You will enjoy your MacBook so much more now. I'm impressed that you did this yourself. I would have had to have help.
Have a terrific day. :)
You may say it's easy, but installing a new hard drive sounds to me somewhat akin to brain surgery! You are my hero!
I'm thinking of putting a second hard drive into my PC,I doubt if I coud do that on my own.
Wow! Your a lot better at these things than I am. I would have had to call in the national guard to help me out. LOL Thanks for stopping by Life after 40...
Hot diggity dawg...that's fantastic!! I am way too slow and technically challenged to even attempt that.
Trust me it's true what they say about some blonds. I am living proof that only adds to the stereotype!!
Have a wonderful evening!!:-))))
Great to hear that you have powered up your hard drive and now it has bigger capacity. I have to agree with you that replacing a hard drive is an easy thing but can be pretty time intensive especially if you give everything a fresh install, which is better too. Whenever I got a new hard drive, I always preferred to start it fresh too.
Well, we could have worked together. Yesterday I bought a notebook for my wife. An HP Pavilion. And I did set it up, sacked Norton Security and installed the Swisscom (our DSL provider) Internet Security. This cost 2 dollars per month and your "machine" is absolutely "safe" and protected. Without us users doing anything. No updates, everything is handled automatically.
And as I got a good price, I fulfilled a dream (a small one) and bought a Canon scanner for me. And I just installed it now. It is working perfect.
As for a notebook need for me, no urgency. I bought mine 5 years ago with a 80 Giga disk. And I am still left with 40 Giga. But then, I was not around very much in the last 4 years to fill the disk.
awesome for you! it may be time consuming but damn is it worth it!

Wow, that is something that I would not attempt! Good for you on doing it for yourself. What a great feeling.
awesome! I need to do the sam thing with my laptop before it decides to go all wonky and crash on me
I can remember back when I had my first computer that had a 40MB hard drive and everyone was telling me how I would never need all that space! Now I have a 160GB hard drive and it's about 50% used!
Wow, good for you! I'm married to a "geek" so I let him do all that stuff. He's not a blogger or anything but he can usually even help me with my blog, I'm spoiled, I know. Enjoy your new hard drive and have fun filling it up! :-D
Awesome! You did it on your own! Kudos to your skills...
