Not Doing The Paid Advertising with EC

Okay, I did the paid advertising with Entrecard for a week and now I'm going to go the other way and for the time being stay with merely Entrecard Adverts (the kind that give me and my advertiser credits). I am not accepting any paid advertising through EC at the current time.
I wish there was a way to support Entrecard without accepting paid adverts and I hope Graham comes up with another approach.
I just don't think it's fair that people that advertise using credits should get only 50% of the drop credits (they aren't paying 50% less).

Deb, I with you on this, I posted on one of my sites "will not be accepting paid ads..." under my EC widget. I just do not get enough traffic to be able to earn enough EC to buy Advert time. the other one I am accepting some but trying to keep the Paid adds Lower in #. With the Today.com leaving and the Paid ads everything has slowed down. I'll just keep reading and watching to see what's going to happen. Hope you are having a wonderful Easter with Rudy :-)

I agree, I think the paid credits are conflicting with the original intention of Entrecard. I don't want to mess with the paid ads anymore either.

I have NO accepted paid ads on my dashboard yet there is a paid ad showing up on my blog. I have emailed Entrecard - this is very disappointing.
I apologize in advance to anyone that advertises on my site and doesn't get the bang for their "buck" while this is sorted out.
I'm Sorry!!!

I'm still trying to figure the whole EC out. I recently received a good handful of paid ads, but I have no ideas what that means. I just clicked 'Approved' LOL.

The credit approach seems simpler and motivating enough for me. Thanks for your AD. Your AD should be showing up on my site by tomorrow :)

I am in full agreement with you. I thought when they initially mentioned that they were going to receive paid ads that they would wait in line along with everyone else and that we would get paid with EC credits accordingly. That would be the most fair system.

The introduction of the paid ads appears to by solely to pay off people who want to sell their credits back into the Entrecard system. So this may benefit them but I use up all of my credits to advertise on other peoples blogs so it is of no benefit to me.

The other thing that is happening to both mine and my son's blog is that we are having 'wild cat' paid adverts appearing on our sites despite the fact that neither of us are accepting paid adverts. This requires constant policing and asking the Admin to remove them. This is happening several times per day - I am finding it extremely frustrating and very disappointing.

Dropping is also becoming boring as the same advert seems to be running on nearly every site as you load blog after blog. I do like to click through when I can to other blogs - it's something I have always done but now it is taking me twice as long to do my dropping. :(

Me too, I am still figuring out how it works. I approve many adds, the ones that appear on my dashboard. And then I drop daily on widgets. It says "Thanks" and then? I do not understand their statistics. With the tables. They says "This means blablabla". I thought I master English. Obviously not.

Good for you! I'm accepted the paid ads for the first couple of dys until I foind out that those that spend their hard earned credits were more or less getting shafted in this deal. It's so not fair to anyone, but I bet those that use the paid ads aren't complaining.

Come to think of it, of all the blogs I've read, no one has had anything good to say about this paid ad system. Hmm...maybe Graham should think about that

Good for you, this is what I've been doing since they started paid ads...

I will place an ad here when I have enough credits as I know I will get 100% :)

I don't understand how the paid ads work either. I have only accepted two paid ads, yet other paid ads show on my site. I hope we all have answers soon.

I share your thought on this issue. Much as I want to support EC, it is simply not right that people who advertise using credits only get 50% air time now but they are not paying any less to advertise. My widget will only approve ads bought with EC credits.

Hi Deb - I totally agree with you. In fact, I did a post about this very same thing...I think a lot of people are going the same way. If you want to read it, it's today's post.

I'll support you for not taking paid ads - I think if we all do that, it will make a strong statement. At least I hope it will!

i have request for ads on my widget and i don't even do EC anymore.

just stopping in to say hello.

i hope they get this thing straightened out. there's a lot of grumbling.

i totally understand graham wanting to make money with EC. after all it's free to those who use it, but not to him. maybe he'll come up with a better solution.

I'm not doing the paid ads either. I had a ton of them when I came home yesterday. It was awful. I just don't like it at all.

Have a terrific day. :)

I noticed that a few days ago (right before making my EC decision to stop accepting paid ads) I was #2 in my category and then when I cancelled my paid advertisers I went to #7.

Oh Debs ... I saw your little note about the paid ads - no I haven't decided to take paid ads but they keep appearing despite them not being on my dash. I am constantly sending messages through to the admin. As far as I am concerned this is a type of stealing - it is stealing space on our blogs without our permission. I am constantly looking at my blog and my son's blog - it's driving me mad and as you know ... I NEVER get mad!!!!!!!

I'm doing the same thing on Sunflower Seeds. Its a shame what EC is doing to their great service.

YOU WONT BELIVE MAMA FLO what they just did to me:

I agree. They are a pain and we are not getting anything out of it, wrong. Not for me either.

I agree too. I just hate that I have to keep going in and cancelling them. I was finally getting my blog up there and now it has nose dived. Only 8 credits to advertise on mine. Shameful. I'll hang on for a little while longer, but will be quitting EC soon if things don't change.

Well I am new with entrecards and actually joined a few days before they implemented this new advertising thing. And I got more confused on the system they run just when I almost get used to the system they had then. I just don't seem to get how one earns there.

Anyway, thanks for the Non-paid ads you placed on my EC. I approved it already and is next in line.

I'm torn on the whole ec thing..I have noticed a severe drop off in card droppers since the inception of paid ads..as well as ads bought from me with credits ..I'm at the point of dumping the whole thing..I am just hanging in for awhile to see if the system improves although the trend isn't showing me much

I too do think it's quite unfair to have to split the ad's 50/50 or whatever it is, as I still really don't know how it works. All I know is that I accepted some of them at first, but haven't in a few day's. They still appear, and I still have so many on my dashboard. I hope EC figures out a better way to earn revenue, or get the bugs out of this new set ip.

Deb,
I absolutely understand and respect your decision. I am also totally mystified by the duck widget underneath your Entrecard widget. I tried clicking on it but nothing happens. Is this your "statement"? Or is my browser not working?

The Natural State Hawg said...

You're not kidding -- my ad price has gone down, my clicks have gone down and everything else has headed south since paid ads were introduced.

I'm not accepting those things, either.

This is all very disturbing. I'm actually glad, now, that when I moved my Bookishgal blog to my own site, I didn't put the Entrecard back on. It sounds like just a way for Graham to make money at the expense of everyone who actually uses his site. You guys do all the work, he gets the money.

Then, today, I saw a disturbing post at the Recycled Frockery blog that sounds like he's now added a bit of a racist element to his complaining.

Now I think I wouldn't touch Entrecard for anything.

Hi there! I'm still hoping they come up with something else that will show the ads 100%. But not sure they will ever listen to the users.

Thank you for the kind words you left over at On The Bricks! Was really nice of you. Tomorrow will be my 5th day without smoking, only feels like a year. lol ;-)

Thanks and hope you have a super great weekend!! :-)
