I can almost hear the sound of the waves and feel the wind on my face. This particular cruise was heavy in the European department and Americans were probably 1/3 of the total passengers on board. The food was okay I suppose but not great like it should be.<br />I think we'll stick with Holland America and I think we'd like to try out Princess and maybe Oceania. I don't drink martini's but I hear that this is supposedly the most heavenly martini possible since they send a launch and a gardemanger out to the mendenhall shelf for clippings each sailing. they go out that nite while you are sailing in at a much slower clip so that they have the time to get the ice back to the kitchen and parcel it up for the bars and the deck bars - in time for the passing.<br /><br />I plan to check out the Mendenhall Glacier in a year or so myself. I've certainly sent enough folks to see it.<br /><br />so were you on RCCL or Celebrity this trip ? you know Celebrity is the Shiz-nit ! but supposedly oldstyle luxe is best for alaska on the jewels - Holland America.<br />they were the firstrunners and apparently their agrements were what got carnival the door for the purchase. <br /><br />just wait till mr obama find out about the anti competitive behaviour in the tour business. It's incredible though to get near these huge ice fields and hear the hissing and cracking and sometimes the explosions when the glacier is calving.
