In my case, I never did get used to it. It's nearly ten years later, so I can almost justify finding another mattress. One thing I will say - firm is great, but a pillowtop surface negates most of the firmness. And it holds the heat. But if it was too firm, I could always set it at a softer level. I am a 45 and my husband is a 35. My husband lied down on the bed to check if it is comfortable or not before we bought our bed because it's high purchase and want to last as long and we want a good sleep in our comfortable bed.
